Alumnus Michael Roumen graduated from Leiden University in 2005. Upon finishing his degree, Michael and his friends had found and managed the highly successful Leiden International Film Festival. Following his experience with the Film Festival, Michael was asked to be the director of the Leiden Fund for Arts and Culture. Having gained great experience at cross-sector culture management, Michael did not want to stop there and sought out further opportunities to develop his abilities. Thus, he completed an Arts Administration programme at NYU in 2014. Inspired by the idea of self-management, he decided to become an entrepreneur. An expert in the “business” of art, Michael currently works with artists helping them develop artistically as well as financially.

As for the career event, Michael’s knowledge of the cultural sector will prove indispensable to all students curious about this career path. However, it will be equally interesting for those wondering what other options are open to them. As an entrepreneur, Michael can offer good advice on choosing a career path.
